23rd May 2008: Meet My Frankenstein double!

Jesse James Meets Frankenstein’s Daughter (1966) What’s in a film title? EVERYTHING! A western horror classic from William “One Shot” Beaudine...

...plus Frankenstein Meets The Space Monster (1965) No budget nonsense with James (Return Of The Living Dead) Karen, and Crispin Glover's father Bruce as the titular Space Monster!

Here's some trivia for you ...

Frankenstein Meets the Space Monster was directed by Robert Gaffney. I worked for Bob from 76 to 80. He was an incredibly talented cameraman who had a long association with Stanley Kubrick, from Lolita up through The Shining - he shot aerial footage for Lolita, Strangelove and 2001; was the producer for the never-finished Napoleon; designed the low light lenses used on Barry Lyndon; and did a variety of things on Shining, such as finding and testing the Steadicam for Stanley. When I was working for him he was considered one of the top ten director/cameramen making TV commercials in the US.

Bob would trot out a print of FMTSM for every party he held. He knew it was crap but it was basically an excuse for him and his friends to have an all-expenses paid trip to Puerto Rico and they had a blast making it!
